Seeds
The different parables of Jesus are all very interesting to read and to reflect on but Jesus himself told the disciples that the key parable is
The parable of the sower.
Listen! A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants, so that they did not bear grain. Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up, grew and produced a crop, multiplying thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times.” (Mark 4:3-8)
The Disciples were not sure why Jesus spoke in parables and asked him questions about them.
Jesus then told the disciples boldly: ”Don’t you understand this parable? How then will you understand any parable?
This parable of the sower is the key.
The word of God is like a seed, it has to be planted.
The whole world is dependant on seeds. We would not survive long if there were no seeds. Without a seed there is no life
God's word never fails. It's not a bad seed, but there is bad soil, bad grounds.
An earthly seed can grow and break ground, it can spring through asphalt, if a seed lands in a crack in a mountain it can break it in two, and just as powerful as this is, yes even more powerful, God's word is.
We need to grow in God's word, grow with big and powerful roots, if not how can we bear fruit? If a tree has no deep roots it will fall down when the wind blows. A plant will die in the sunlight if it can't develop deep roots.
We just as the plants and trees will fall down, we can’t ask for growth until we have stable roots, so let’s get rooted!
